Dental crowns

They are the best solution when the loss of dental substances is too great (caries, fracture, old treatment)

THE CROWN IS AN AESTHETIC PROSTHESIS THAT IMPROVES THE APPEARANCE AND FUNCTION OF THE TOOTH

It covers the whole of a tooth that is too damaged or too fragile.

Guidelines
We choose as far as possible for crowns to be made entirely of ceramic. They are ideal to cover a non-devitalised natural tooth and are suitable for patients allergic to metals in the mouth. When the mechanical stresses are too great, the metal-ceramic crowns are preferred. Gold, platinum, palladium are used for the core, covered by an aesthetic ceramics. The frame is invisible.

Benefits
In addition to its aesthetic qualities, blending in perfectly with the other teeth, the crown ensures functional characteristics and first-class durability.

Results

The result is durable. The final embellishment is remarkable. The crown has the same appearance as a natural tooth, by its shape and colour.

Treatment process
The treatment involves two or three sessions.

The dentist performs an initial assessment, with dental examination and x-ray. The imprint is used as a model to create the crown. A temporary crown is then fitted. One to two weeks later, the permanent crown is definitively fixed in place. Depending on the number of teeth to be treated, local anaesthesia or sedation is performed.

Our advice

What to do before treatment?
No prior preparation is required.

What to do after treatment?
A crown itself cannot become decayed. However, the tooth itself may be exposed to decay and periodontal ailments. It is therefore necessary to continue with good dental hygiene.
